Over 200 students gathered on February 7th to hear Michelle Powers, LPN from the CHCS Wrightsville office discuss nursing career options. During this time they discussed education needed, technology, job responsibilities, salaries and what a typical day as a nurse might be like. In addition, Michelle took a Dopplar machine so that students could hear what a heartbeat sounds like and a pulse oxometer to show how to check oxygen levels and heart rate. Masks were handed out to all the students and the importance of covering your mouth when coughing or sneezing and hand washing were discussed.
Tammi Wilson, MA from the CHCS in-school clinic at Wrightsville Elementary joined Michelle so that the students could meet her and learn a little bit about the clinic located in their school.
